Safeguarding at Runcorn All Saints CE Primary School
What is Safeguarding?
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined as:
- protecting children from maltreatment
- preventing impairment of children's and learner's health or development
- ensuring children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
- taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes
At Runcorn All Saints CE Primary School, we are committed to creating and maintaining a safe learning environment for children and young people, identifying where there are child welfare concerns and taking action to address them, in partnership with families and other agencies.
The school Safeguarding Team consists of four members including Joanne Robertson (Safeguarding Lead), Jane Winstanley (Deputy Safeguarding Lead) and Wendy McCarthy (Safeguarding Officer). Our Safeguarding Governor is Mrs Lisa Parkes.
We are proactive about our safeguarding procedures and as such educate our pupils to be safe and this is done through school assemblies and class sessions including E-safety lessons. We also invite in external agencies such as NSPCC/Childline, Banardos to do workshops as well as providing children with safety literature. We display information relating to Prevent and Hate Crime around school.
We are all trained in PREVENT, the government initiative to prevent radicalisation.
We work in line with the policies of the LSCB and further detail can be found by clicking on the following link: https://hcypsp.haltonsafeguarding.co.uk/ or you can view our school safeguarding policy at the bottom of this page or on the policies section of the website.

Operation Encompass
Runcorn All Saints CE Primary school is part of a project that runs jointly between Halton Schools and Cheshire Police. This project is called Operation Encompass. It aims to support children who are affected by domestic violence, by ensuring school is informed that a child has been present in a domestic incident that occurs outside of school. This then allows school to provide intervention and support the children. Our Key Adults are Mrs Robertson and Mrs McCarthy, who liaise with the Police and use the information to support our children. If you have any other questions about this project, please do not hesitate to contact school. If you would more information then click on the image below.
